Instagram is changing, are you ready? Instagram has been known as the photo sharing app since its creation in 2010. But they plan on changing that perception by changing their core focus to pushing video creation.
On twitter the head of instagram, Adam Mosseri, said the following:
“Changes are coming to video on Instagram. At Instagram we’re always trying to build new features that help you get the most out of your experience. Right now we’re focused on four key areas: Creators, Video, Shopping and Messaging.” There was also a video accompanying his tweet that you can find here.
But what does this mean for businesses trying to reach their target audience?
It means you’ll need to create video content. Not only that but enough video content to make sure you stay relevant monthly, alongside your pictures posted. The biggest push for video content on Instagram is Instagram Reels (we have a blog post about it here).
How do I create that content?
The best way to create your content, especially as a busy business owner, is to batch it.
Choose your content day, it can also include a photoshoot for products, and have your list of ideas ready! Follow some of your favourite creators, or similar businesses, and see what trends they are doing! A quick google search can also show you some trending videos and trends that you can re-create.
We would recommend setting aside a few hours a month for video content creation.
Other things you can do?
Encourage your followers to turn on post notifications! You can do this in your stories, by telling your audience if they want to see your content all the time to turn on post alerts by going to your profile and clicking the bell (see our screenshot below).
